Amit Shah Launches Next-Gen Dial-112 in Raipur, Flags Off 400 Emergency Vehicles and 32 Mobile Forensic Vans

Raipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Chhattisgarh Police’s advanced ‘Next-Gen CG Dial-112’ emergency response service and mobile forensic vans at the Mana Police Parade Ground in Raipur on Sunday.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Vidhan Sabha Speaker Raman Singh were present during the programme.

Shah flagged off 400 technologically equipped Dial-112 emergency response vehicles along with 32 mobile forensic vans aimed at strengthening emergency services and scientific crime investigation across the state. Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, MLAs and senior police officials also attended the event.

The upgraded emergency response system has been launched under the theme ‘Ekke Number, Sabbo Bar’ (one number for all), integrating police, fire and medical emergency services through a single platform to ensure faster assistance to citizens.

The 400 newly inducted vehicles are equipped with smartphones, GPS, wireless communication systems, PTZ cameras, dashcams, mobile NVRs and solar backup facilities. The system enables live monitoring of incidents, real-time vehicle tracking and rapid communication during emergencies.

Operating 24×7, the service uses GIS-based monitoring, advanced vehicle tracking systems, SIP trunk technology and automated caller location identification. All 33 district coordination centres in the state have been linked to the network. Citizens can seek assistance through voice calls, SMS, email, web portals, WhatsApp, chatbots and the SOS-112 India mobile application.

The 32 mobile forensic vans, launched under the theme ‘Science on Wheels – Towards Faster Justice’, are intended to strengthen evidence-based investigation and speed up criminal justice delivery. Introduced with the slogan “32 vans, 32 districts, one resolve: accurate investigation and swift justice,” the initiative aims to facilitate preliminary scientific examination directly at crime scenes.

Each forensic van, costing nearly ₹65 lakh, is equipped with crime scene protection kits, evidence collection and sealing tools, fingerprint detection systems, narcotics testing kits, digital forensic support systems, advanced photography equipment, bullet hole screening devices, ballistic investigation kits and gunshot residue (GSR) testing facilities.

Officials said that earlier, transportation of evidence from crime scenes to laboratories often led to delays and increased the risk of contamination. The mobile forensic units will now enable on-site preliminary analysis, evidence preservation, testing and digital documentation, thereby improving the quality and speed of investigations.

The state government said the initiative is aimed at expanding access to scientific investigation, strengthening evidence-based justice mechanisms, enhancing the role of forensic science in crime control and ensuring transparent, reliable and time-bound investigations.

Authorities expressed confidence that the upgraded Dial-112 service and mobile forensic vans would improve emergency response efficiency, accelerate investigations and strengthen public trust in the law and order system.
