Chhattisgarh was once known for Naxalism, minerals, and underdevelopment. Tourism here remained neglected for a long time; the entire focus was only on the Naxal menace. However, Chhattisgarh is blessed with splendid natural beauty and is one of the best destinations for tourists. The state government is pushing to make Chhattisgarh a first choice of travel enthusiasts”, said Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

CM Bhupesh Baghel announced that to promote tourism in the state, members of ‘The Rajiv Gandhi Yuva Mitan Club’ would receive tourism-related training. “Involving youth in tourism will help to boost tourism in the state,” he said.

Speaking about the uniqueness of the state’s rich culture and history, he said, “Chhattisgarh is such a state without which even the great Indian epic Ramayana will remain incomplete. Lord Ram spent most of his exile period in Chhattisgarh, and this is where his mother, Kaushalya used to reside. Chhattisgarh is the only state in the world with a provision to punish even the deities. It is the need of the hour to tell the world about the glorious culture, history, and tradition of the state.”

He added that Chhattisgarh has immense tourism potential. The state government made untiring efforts even during the Covid-19 pandemic period to tap into it; this includes the development of accessible tourist destinations and improving guest facilities keeping in view the convenience of tourists.

Tourism Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, in his address, said the state government is constantly working towards promoting tourism in the state. Even during the difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic, the government developed the tribal tourism circuit and launched the Ram Van Gaman tourism circuit. Accepting the suggestion of Parliamentary Secretary Chintamani Singh, he announced that he would emphasize developing Gaurlata, the state’s highest peak, as a popular tourist destination.

Chhattisgarh Tourism Board President Atal Srivastava said that we need to focus on youth tourism. The tourism board is working to promote agro-tourism in Chhattisgarh so that people can connect with villages and farmers.
