
Raipur: Four people died and an eight-year-old boy sustained severe injuries after their scooter crashed into a stationary tractor on the National Highway under Kumhari Police Station limits today.
According to the preliminary police report, the victims were travelling from Bhilai-3 to a relative’s house in Basant Vihar, Raipur, when the accident took place. The scooter rammed into the rear of a stationary tractor-trailer (registration number CG 07 NA 0930) loaded with oxygen cylinders.

Three of the deceased have been identified as the rider, Amrit Nirmalkar (28), Lakshmi Nirmalkar (26), and Yachna (7). A four-year-old girl named Dali also died on the spot.
The injured minor, Bhavesh (8), has been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur, for medical treatment.
The police have shifted the bodies to the mortuary in Supela for post-mortem examination and informed the family members of the victims.
The authorities have seized the tractor involved in the accident. The police have detained the tractor driver, Bhola Yadav, for questioning and initiated legal proceedings. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
