Court extends EOW custody of Congress leader Ramgopal Agarwal by five days

Raipur: A special court on Friday extended the EOW (Economic Offences Wing) custody of Congress leader and former state party treasurer Ramgopal Agarwal by five days in connection with the alleged coal levy scam and liquor scam. He will now remain in EOW custody until July 22.
Defence counsel Faizal Rizvi confirmed that the court allowed the EOW’s request for an additional five days of custodial interrogation. Earlier, Ramgopal Agarwal had been remanded to nine days of EOW custody.
The EOW initially arrested Ramgopal Agarwal in the alleged coal levy scam. During his nine-day remand, the agency formally arrested him in the alleged liquor scam as well. He is now being questioned in connection with both cases.
According to officials, investigators will use the extended custody to further examine financial transactions, documentary evidence, and the alleged role of other accused persons in the two scams.
