Durg police have arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly duping four buyers of ₹50 lakh after signing a sale agreement for his house and later selling the same property to another buyer.
The accused, Inderjeet Singh, a resident of Kailash Nagar under Jamul police station limits, was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
Sundar Lal Patel, Srinivas Mishra, Chhatrapati Singh, and Shivshankar Yadav entered into an agreement with Singh on 26 November 2024 to purchase his house at Plot No. 08, Block No. 23, Ward No. 25, Jawahar Nagar Residential Scheme in Supela for ₹55 lakh.
The complainants paid Singh ₹50 lakh as an advance through nine cheques issued on 26 and 27 November 2024. A notarised sale agreement was executed on a ₹50 stamp paper on 28 November 2024.
Police verification revealed that Singh reported the original sale deed missing at Cantonment police station on 3 October 2025. He then sold the same property to another buyer, Vishal Singh, for ₹44.26 lakh on 17 April 2026.
Supela police recorded the statements of the complainants, inspected the site, and seized the original notarised sale agreement along with related documents. Singh admitted during interrogation that he accepted ₹50 lakh from the complainants and sold the house to a second party. He told investigators that he invested the money in his iron bolt and nail manufacturing factory in Hathkhoj village.
Police registered a case under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with other relevant provisions, and arrested Singh after gathering documentary evidence.
Durg police have advised buyers to verify ownership records and previous sale agreements before purchasing property, and to maintain complete documentation of financial transactions.
