Three arrested in Raipur for creating ruckus, playing loud music after Eid procession

Golbazar police arrested three persons on 26 August for playing loud music beyond the permissible time limit and creating a ruckus in public places following an Eid procession.

Police seized a DJ vehicle and registered a case under Sections 3 and 5 of the Chhattisgarh Control of Noise Pollution Act, 1985. Preventive action was also taken under Sections 170, 126, and 135(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The action followed a complaint regarding an argument near Jawahar Market. A police team reached the spot and found Chunnam Lal Sahu (31) and Sunil Nirmalkar (28), both residents of Somni in Rajnandgaon district, operating a DJ and sound system at high volume well after the procession had concluded.

When instructed to stop, the duo engaged in a heated argument with officials and attempted to start a physical fight. In a separate incident on Malviya Road near Barkha Collection, police arrested Shaikh Faizan (21), a resident of Civil Lines, Raipur, for abusing passersby and creating a nuisance.

Two minors present with him were handed over to their parents after counseling. All three accused were produced before the Special Executive Magistrate, Central Zone, Raipur, and sent to judicial custody at the Central Jail.

Central Zone police officials issued an appeal urging event organisers and DJ operators to strictly follow sound norms and permissible time limits during festivals. Police warned that strict legal action would continue against anyone violating noise regulations or disturbing public peace.
