Raigarh Police Install Reflective Radium at Accident Blackspots to Boost Road Safety

Raigarh

Raigarh Police have initiated measures to curb road accidents and strengthen safety arrangements at high-risk zones across the district.

Following directives from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shashi Mohan Singh, a traffic police team led by Traffic Inspector Rohit Banjare inspected 16 identified blackspots along national and state highways passing through the district. Additional SP Anil Soni and Traffic Additional SP Pushpendra Baghel guided the operation.

During the inspection, the team evaluated road geometry, turns, night visibility and existing signage. Police personnel installed reflective radium stickers at spots where night visibility posed a risk to commuters. The reflective material alerts drivers from a distance when caught in headlights, allowing them to adjust speed in time.

Inspector Rohit Banjare prepared a report detailing required infrastructure improvements and safety measures at these key locations. The police department will present the findings to the District Road Safety Committee to facilitate corrective engineering works in coordination with public works and highway authorities.

SSP Shashi Mohan Singh stated that identifying vulnerable stretches and implementing timely preventive measures remains a top priority. He noted that interventions like installing reflective radium play a role in improving night-time travel safety. He added that systemic improvements would follow based on the traffic team’s report, while urging motorists to adhere to speed limits and traffic rules.
