Chhattisgarh State Waqf Board Chairman Dr. Salim Raj has appealed to officials of all mosques, dargahs and madrasas across the state to hoist the national flag on Independence Day, 15 August.
The board said that the previously issued guidelines for Independence Day celebrations remain unchanged, and officials of all Waqf institutions must follow them. Dr Raj urged citizens to celebrate the occasion with patriotism and mutual unity.
Describing India as a land of Sufis and saints, the chairman said people of all religions have been living together peacefully under a shared culture. He said Islam teaches love for one’s country, making it every citizen’s duty to hoist the Tricolour on Independence Day and demonstrate dedication to the nation.
Amid ongoing concerns over national allegiance, Dr Raj said the vast majority of Indian Muslims respect the Constitution. He appealed to community members to celebrate the festival of independence together, preserve the country’s culture, and uphold allegiance to the Constitution.
