Raipur Civic Body Removes 1,922 Tree Guards to Boost Plant Growth

RAIPUR:
Raipur Municipal Corporation has removed 1,922 tree guards and cleared concrete paver blocks around 396 locations across all 10 zones to allow saplings to grow naturally under Project Punarjeevan.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai directed officials to launch the environmental drive after Governor Ramen Deka expressed concern over environmental conservation in the state.

Under the guidance of Raipur district collector Dr Gaurav Kumar Singh, municipal commissioner Sambit Mishra tasked all 10 zone commissioners with identifying plants trapped in concrete and metal enclosures. Teams cleared the obstructions to ensure saplings get proper access to soil, water and air.

District collector Dr Gaurav Kumar Singh appealed to residents to support the initiative by watering and nourishing saplings near their homes. The district administration will honour active citizens as ‘Paryavaran Mitra’ under Project Punarjeevan.

Municipal commissioner Sambit Mishra is reviewing the daily progress across all zones to ensure the prompt execution of the ongoing drive.
