SECL forms panel to examine land-for-job complaints

Raipur: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has constituted a high-level standing review committee to examine complaints regarding employment provided in exchange for acquired land. The panel will review cases based on official records, documents and evidence before submitting recommendations to the competent authority.

The General Manager (Land & Revenue) at SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur will head the committee. The panel comprises the General Manager (Planning & Projects), General Manager (Human Resources/Manpower), General Manager (Human Resources/Industrial Relations) and Deputy General Manager (Legal).

The committee will process grievances concerning irregularities in land-for-job allocations, submission of forged documents and concealment of material facts. SECL stated that once registered, complaints cannot be withdrawn. The state-run coal miner urged citizens to submit grievances only through official channels and warned against relying on intermediaries.

SECL clarified that legitimate complaints submitted in good faith will be processed as per rules to ensure prompt disposal. The company warned that filing false or malicious complaints to harass individuals or tarnish reputations will attract legal action.

Offenders submitting fabricated complaints face prosecution under Section 217 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 215(1)(a) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, alongside other legal provisions.
