RAIGARH: Raigarh Police have launched a road safety drive, attaching high-quality radium reflector stickers to roadside trees along major roads across the district to reduce night-time accidents.
The initiative is being directed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shashi Mohan Singh, Additional SP Anil Soni, Additional SP (Traffic) Pushpendra Baghel, and Traffic Deputy Superintendent of Police Uttam Pratap Singh.
Unlit trees on road margins often remain invisible at night, posing a serious risk to fast-moving vehicles and drivers affected by high beams. Traffic Police surveyed key routes across the district to identify accident-prone locations. The radium reflector markers glow when illuminated by vehicle headlights, alerting motorists from a distance.
Dedicated Traffic Police teams are carrying out the drive in phases. On 4 August, teams installed radium reflector stickers on trees along the Urdana–Gervani–Lakha, Pahar Mandir–Banora, and Indira Vihar–Hamirpur routes. Work on other accident-prone stretches will continue in the coming days.
Traffic Police have urged motorists to follow speed limits, avoid the improper use of high beams, wear seat belts and helmets, and obey road signs and reflector markings.
SSP Shashi Mohan Singh said that, apart from enforcement, the police are introducing road safety measures that directly protect commuters. He said the radium tree markers will alert drivers in time and help reduce the likelihood of road accidents, while urging citizens to follow traffic rules, drive at safe speeds, and ensure the safety of themselves and others.
