IG Ram Gopal Garg reviews Raigarh police operations, emphasizes professional policing

Bilaspur Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ram Gopal Garg chaired a review meeting with district police officers at the Police Control Room in Raigarh on Wednesday evening, following the visit of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to the district.
During the meeting, IGP Garg reviewed the law and order situation, crime control measures, implementation of the new criminal laws, and the quality of police investigations. He praised the performance of Raigarh Police under Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shashi Mohan Singh, while stressing the need for technology-driven, professional, and result-oriented policing to tackle emerging challenges.
He informed officers that the Union Government is regularly monitoring states on the implementation of the new criminal laws, making it essential for districts to improve data quality and overall performance. He directed investigating officers to complete investigations and file charge sheets within 90 days for offences punishable with seven years or more, and within 60 days for other cases. Officers were instructed to prepare category-wise lists of pending cases for priority disposal. He also set an eight-day deadline for resolving routine cases and directed Sub-Divisional Officers of Police (SDOPs) to personally guide investigations in complex cases.
Emphasizing the use of digital policing tools, IGP Garg ordered the adoption of electronic evidence collection, audio-video recording, timely CCTNS data entry, digital signatures, and submission of medical requests through the MedLEaPR portal. He also stressed the importance of ensuring timely court appearances by police personnel.
Taking a tough stand on property-related crimes, the IGP directed police station in-charges to register FIRs immediately on receiving valid complaints without unnecessary delay. He called for maximum use of the ‘Sashakt’ app to recover stolen vehicles, continuous surveillance on habitual offenders, and filing applications in court to cancel bail if repeat offenders commit fresh crimes. He further instructed officers to ensure the prompt issuance of warrants against absconding accused after filing charge sheets, immediately inform concerned police stations after recording Zero Marge cases to preserve evidence, and conduct regular training sessions for officers handling NDPS cases.
SSP Shashi Mohan Singh assured IGP Ram Gopal Garg that Raigarh Police would implement all the directives with full commitment, giving top priority to crime control, quality investigations, effective implementation of the new criminal laws, and technology-based policing.
The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Soni, DSP Unnati Thakur, DSP Uttam Pratap Singh, DSP Sushanto Banerjee, DSP Satish Bhargava, Reserve Inspector Amit Singh, along with all police station and police post in-charges.
