Clear census dues, grant special leave to staff: Chhattisgarh employee federation

RAIPUR

The Chhattisgarh Karmachari Adhikari Federation has submitted a memorandum to the Director of Census Operations, Chhattisgarh, demanding special earned leave and immediate payment of pending honorariums for all government officials and employees involved in the Census 2027 duties.

The federation stated that employees from various state departments performed their duties from 1 May to 30 May 2027 under extreme weather conditions, with temperatures touching 45 degrees Celsius. Many workers sacrificed their personal leave and family time to complete the national assignment.

Given the extra workload and dedication shown by the staff, the federation argued that granting special earned leave is justified. The organisation expressed concern that despite budgetary provisions made by the government, a majority of the staff have not received their honorariums yet, causing widespread discontent among state government employees.

The federation demanded immediate clearance of all pending honorarium payments and the sanctioning of special earned leave. It also urged the administration to establish a permanent mechanism to ensure time-bound payments and benefits for staff deployed in such critical national projects in the future.

Chhattisgarh Karmachari Adhikari Federation provincial convenor Kamal Verma expressed hope that the Director of Census Operations and the state government will address these demands swiftly.
