Chhattisgarh Tourism Board officials visit Rajmergarh to review tourism development

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Managing Director Vivek Acharya and Chairman Neelu Sharma visited Rajmergarh in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) district to review the region’s Tourism Development potential.
During the visit, district officials presented the GPM Tourism Coffee Table Book to the dignitaries, showcasing the district’s Natural, Cultural, and Religious Heritage. Officials briefed the board leadership on ongoing Tourism Development Projects, Visitor Facilities, and the Community-Based Tourism Model being implemented in the district. They highlighted that local tourism sites are being developed by integrating Indigenous Culture, Environmental Conservation, and Rural Livelihoods.
Vivek Acharya and Neelu Sharma inspected the functioning of local Tourism Committees at Rajmergarh, reviewing Infrastructure, Cleanliness, Ecological Preservation, and Community-Led Initiatives. Committee representatives explained that Public Participation is helping generate Employment, Self-Employment, and Economic Growth in the region.
The committees also shared updates on Youth Participation, Site Management, efforts to preserve Local Culture, and initiatives to provide improved Visitor Amenities.
Vivek Acharya praised the initiative, stating that Community Participation is the most crucial element in Tourism Development. He said GPM District is blessed with rich Biodiversity and Cultural Heritage, and that the community-driven model creates Livelihood Opportunities while enhancing the overall Visitor Experience.
He urged the committees to maintain high standards of Quality, Safety, and Cleanliness to establish GPM as a premier Tourist Destination in Chhattisgarh.
Officials from the Tourism Department, the District Administration, and local Public Representatives were also present during the visit.
