Rush Before June 30 Deadline: Raipur Municipal Corporation Collects Rs 1.21 Crore in a Day as Citizens Avail 6.25% Property Tax Rebate

Raipur: The Revenue Department of the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) collected over Rs 1.21 crore from 630 properties in a single day on Monday as part of an intensified drive to boost property tax recovery ahead of the June 30 rebate deadline.

Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Sambit Mishra, the civic body’s revenue wing recovered Rs 1,21,33,177, surpassing its daily collection target of Rs 1 crore.

Among all zones, Zone 4 recorded the highest collection, recovering Rs 33.47 lakh from 68 properties. It was followed by Zone 10, which collected Rs 18.99 lakh from 96 properties. Zone 2 recovered Rs 11.61 lakh from 55 properties, while Zone 5 collected Rs 11.35 lakh from 67 properties. Zone 7 also crossed the Rs 10 lakh mark, recovering more than Rs 10.43 lakh from 41 properties.

Municipal officials said the strong collections were driven by ongoing efforts to encourage taxpayers to clear their dues before the end of the month and take advantage of the rebate scheme.

The corporation is currently offering a 6.25% rebate on property tax to citizens who make full payment of their outstanding dues by June 30, 2026. The initiative aims to improve voluntary tax compliance and strengthen municipal revenue collections during the current financial year.

Officials have urged property owners to settle their pending tax liabilities within the stipulated deadline to avail themselves of the discount. The civic body expects collections to rise further as the June 30 cut-off date approaches.
