Chhattisgarh CM to flag off Somnath Swabhiman Yatra from Raipur on Monday

RAIPUR: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will flag off the ‘Somnath Swabhiman Sanskritik Yatra’ from Raipur Railway Station on Monday at 9 am. Around 1,000 prominent citizens from across Chhattisgarh will travel to the historic Somnath Dham in Gujarat aboard a special train.

Tourism, Culture and Religious Trusts Minister Rajesh Agrawal will preside over the launch ceremony. Several public representatives, including Members of Parliament, MLAs, and the Raipur Mayor, will also attend the event.

The Union Ministry of Culture is organizing nationwide events to celebrate India’s cultural consciousness and heritage. The journey from Chhattisgarh is a key part of this national campaign aimed at connecting the younger generation with the country’s spiritual roots and national pride.

The group of travellers includes selected individuals from various districts, Padma awardees, internationally acclaimed artists, writers, social workers, and public representatives. They will showcase the rich folk culture and traditions of Chhattisgarh on a national platform.

Participants are carrying holy soil and river water from their respective regions to Somnath as a symbol of cultural and national unity.

During the tour, participants will visit the Somnath Temple and take part in various cultural and religious events. The itinerary includes art exhibitions, visits to historical sites, and interactions with cultural representatives from other states.

The State Culture Department has completed extensive preparations for the journey. Authorities have finalized medical check-ups, travel arrangements, and documentation for all selected participants. Departmental officials have been assigned specific responsibilities to ensure a safe, smooth, and well-organized journey.
