Raipur

In a major effort to improve passenger safety and ensure compliance with Transport Regulations, the Transport Department launched an extensive enforcement campaign targeting buses that were not following the prescribed norms under the Motor Vehicles Act.

During the inspection drive conducted across multiple districts, officials checked hundreds of Passenger Buses operating on various routes. Several vehicles were found lacking mandatory requirements such as valid documents, safety equipment, and proper fitness standards.

According to official reports, more than 350 buses were found violating different provisions during the drive. The department imposed penalties on these operators and collected a total fine of over ₹5.5 lakh.

Authorities said the inspection focused on ensuring compliance with essential requirements including:

  • Valid Permit
  • Fitness Certificate
  • Insurance Documents
  • Pollution Control Certificate (PUC)
  • Mandatory Safety Measures

Buses found operating with deficiencies in documentation or technical fitness were fined accordingly.

Officials stated that the objective of the campaign is to strengthen road safety, reduce the risk of accidents, and ensure higher accountability among public transport operators. They added that strict monitoring of passenger vehicles is necessary to maintain service standards and passenger safety.

The Transport Department has warned that such statewide enforcement drives will continue, and strict action will be taken against operators who fail to comply with legal and safety norms.

This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to build a safer, more reliable, and well-regulated public transport system across the state.
