Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka inaugurated the 32nd All India State Election Commissioners Conference at Nava Raipur Atal Nagar on Wednesday. On the occasion, he released the first edition of the Chhattisgarh Local Body Election Year Book–2026, which documents the state’s electoral arrangements, processes, and innovations.
Addressing the inaugural session, Governor Deka called for strengthening local self-government institutions and three-tier panchayats by making their electoral processes transparent, inclusive, and technology-driven.
State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh delivered the welcome address, outlining the objectives of the two-day conference and detailing ongoing efforts to modernize local body elections.
Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel spoke on enhancing administrative coordination with election authorities to streamline governance. The opening day featured discussions on digital technology, election management, and operational efficiency.
State Election Commissioners’ Standing Committee Chairman Vijay Dev and Convener Sudhanshu Pandey also addressed the gathering. Secretary to the Commission Shikha Rajput Tiwari and other senior officials attended the event.
