Union Budget 2026-27 historic step towards Viksit Bharat: Chhattisgarh CM

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday hailed the Union Budget 2026-27 as a “historic document” that paves the way for India’s golden and developed future. Reacting to the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the Chief Minister noted that this is the first budget prepared at the newly inaugurated Kartavya Bhavan.

The Chief Minister stated that the budget is anchored in three primary duties (Kartavyas)accelerating economic growth and employment, fulfilling citizen aspirations, and upholding the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the budget serves as a milestone for the upliftment of the poor, farmers, youth, women, and the middle class.

Boost to Rural Economy and Agriculture

The budget introduces several measures to enhance farmers’ income and strengthen the rural economy. These include the use of artificial intelligence, modern technology, and incentives for the animal husbandry and dairy sectors. The Chief Minister highlighted that the ‘Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj’ initiative will create new employment opportunities by promoting local industries and handicrafts.

Focus on Youth and Employment

Chief Minister Sai observed that the budget places significant emphasis on job creation through startups, MSMEs, manufacturing, and tourism. He said promotion of tourism will boost local economic growth, enabling youth employment at the regional level. He also noted that foreign travel and overseas education are expected to become more affordable.

Healthcare Initiatives

Calling the healthcare provisions historic, the Chief Minister welcomed the ₹10,000 crore outlay for the biopharma sector under the ‘Biopharma Shakti’ scheme. This initiative will reduce the cost of medicines for serious diseases like cancer and diabetes. Key highlights include:

  • Upgradation of district hospitals
  • Emergency and trauma centres in every district
  • Promotion of mental health and Ayurvedic medicine
  • Five regional hubs for medical tourism

Women’s Empowerment and Education

The expansion of the Lakhpati Didi scheme will provide women with credit-linked self-employment and better market access. For education, the budget announces hostels for girls in every district.

Infrastructure and Industrial Growth

Major proposals include:

  • 7 high-speed rail corridors and 20 new waterways
  • Large textile parks and mineral corridors in four states
  • ₹40,000 crore investment for India Semiconductor Mission 2.0 and electronics manufacturing

Relief for Taxpayers

The Chief Minister said the income tax process has been simplified, offering relief to small taxpayers. Prices of medicines, clothing, footwear, mobile phones, EV batteries, and solar equipment are expected to come down, benefiting the general public.

Concluding his remarks, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh for a budget focused on inclusive growth.
