Ad agency owner found dead in Raipur flat

RAIPUR: An advertising agency owner allegedly committed suicide in Raipur on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Vishwaranjan Purohit. His body was found hanging in his flat located in the New Rajendra Nagar area on the morning of 10 January 2026.

Police officials stated that the incident took place within the jurisdiction of the New Rajendra Nagar police station. Preliminary reports suggest that Purohit had been facing mental stress due to recent business losses. The exact cause of the death is yet to be officially confirmed.

Investigation underway

Purohit lived in the flat with his family. Relatives discovered the body and alerted the local authorities. A police team reached the spot immediately, took custody of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination.

New Rajendra Nagar police have registered a case under accidental death report (ADR) and initiated an investigation.

No suicide note found

The police have started recording statements from family members and acquaintances to understand the circumstances leading to the incident. No suicide note was recovered from the site.

Investigating officers are currently scanning CCTV footage from the building and surrounding areas to collect evidence. While officials noted that there appear to be no immediate signs of foul play, they maintained that the final cause will be determined only after the post-mortem report and further inquiry.
