Raipur
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Monday interacted with security personnel in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Shah said the country will be free from Naxalism by March 2026 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He called this a significant moment since Independence.
Addressing the personnel, the Union Home Minister paid tribute to the courage, valour, sacrifice, and dedication of the Central Armed Police Forces, CoBRA teams, Chhattisgarh Police, and the District Reserve Guard (DRG). He expressed full faith in the bravery and tireless efforts of the security forces in the battle against Maoism.
Shah stated that the way security forces have dismantled Maoist hideouts with immense courage, patience, and commitment has surprised security forces globally. “What our jawans set out to achieve, they always accomplish,” he said. He reiterated that Maoism will be eradicated by March 31, 2026, due to the trust in the security forces.
The Union Home Minister highlighted that Naxalism has been a major catastrophe for poor tribal regions, causing nearly 40,000 deaths over the last 35 years and leaving many more disabled. He said Naxal violence deprived the tribal population of basic necessities such as food, electricity, education, housing, toilets, and clean drinking water, hindering industrial development. Entire regions were forced to live in conditions akin to slavery for decades, with Naxalism being the root cause.
Shah expressed satisfaction that as Naxalism is being eliminated, the Chhattisgarh government is delivering food, healthcare, education, electricity, housing, sanitation, and clean drinking water, connecting people with mainstream development.
He said a child picking up a pencil instead of a gun and beginning to write “Ka, Kha, Ga” transforms not just the future of that child, but of the entire nation. Mr Shah added that moment is near.
The Union Home Minister stated that when the history of Naxalism’s eradication is written, the sacrifice, devotion, and hard work of the security forces will be inscribed in golden letters.
Shah also released the book ‘Leor Oyna’ in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The book is based on the lives of Naxal violence victims. It aims to help understand the pain of innocent and unarmed people who fell prey to Naxalite violence. The book will also expose those who show sympathy towards Naxalites in the name of human rights.
