Security forces achieved a significant success today, May 21, in a major encounter in the Abujhmad region, along the border of Narayanpur, Bijapur, and Dantewada districts. So far, 27 Naxalite bodies have been recovered, along with a large cache of weapons.
The operation was launched based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of Naxal Central Committee and Politburo members, senior Maad Division cadres, and PLGA cadres. District Reserve Guard (DRG) teams from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Kondagaon were deployed to Abujhmad for the mission.
Officials stated that after reviewing all facts and information from this ongoing operation, which has lasted several days, it is estimated that several senior-level Maoist cadres have either been killed or seriously injured.
Despite challenging geographical conditions and numerous obstacles, security forces are continuing this decisive campaign against left-wing extremism with full commitment and determination.
One DRG team member died while confronting the Naxalite attack. A few other personnel sustained injuries during the encounter. All injured personnel received immediate medical attention and are out of danger.
Search operations are still underway. Detailed information will be released separately after the conclusion of the operation.
