ED Raids Former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel’s Residence; Calls It a ‘Political Conspiracy’

Raipur
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid at the residence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress National General Secretary Bhupesh Baghel, triggering strong political reactions at the national level.
Reacting to the development, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that multiple scams took place during the previous government’s five-year tenure, which are now under investigation by central agencies. He added that several individuals are already in jail and emphasized that the ED is an independent central agency, with which his government has no involvement.
The ED’s operation began early in the morning at Baghel’s residence in Bhilai. Reports indicate that the agency also searched the residence of Chaitanya Baghel and conducted raids at 14 locations across the state. Multiple ED teams are simultaneously carrying out searches in Raipur, Bhilai, and other districts, thoroughly examining key documents.
Bhupesh Baghel Calls It a ‘Conspiracy’
Baghel has strongly condemned the ED’s action, calling it a “conspiracy.” He pointed out that a case that had been ongoing for seven years was recently dismissed by the court, yet the ED officials arrived at his residence early this morning. He further remarked that if the intent behind this move is to weaken the Congress in Punjab, it is a mistaken notion.
Ongoing Investigation
According to sources, the ED’s action is linked to allegations of money laundering and financial irregularities. However, it remains unclear which specific case the raids pertain to. Reports suggest that Bhupesh Baghel’s name had surfaced in connection with the liquor scam, coal scam, and the Mahadev betting app case, making him a subject of the ED’s investigation.
