Legend 90 League: Sudeep Tyagi’s final over heroics helps Rajasthan Kings clinch a low-scoring thriller against Dubai Giants

Raipur: Rajasthan Kings secured a thrilling four-run victory over Dubai Giants in a low-scoring contest in the second match of the Legend 90 League at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Defending a modest total of 111/9, Rajasthan Kings made an exceptional comeback with the ball, restricting Dubai Giants to 107/4.

With 12 runs needed in the final over, Sudeep Tyagi held his nerves to seal the win for Rajasthan Kings. Despite conceding a boundary on the first ball, he executed yorkers to deny the opposition a late surge. Skipper Ankit Rajpoot played a key role as well, claiming two crucial wickets, including that of Dubai Giants captain Richard Levi, who was dismissed for a two-ball duck in the opening over.
Batting first, Rajasthan Kings struggled to build partnerships as none of their batters managed to stay at the crease for long. However, a late flourish from Rajat Singh (30 off 18) helped them post a competitive total. Dubai Giants’ bowling unit was dominant, with Vikas Tokas picking up three wickets, while Luke Fletcher and Siddharth Trivedi claimed two each. Deepansh Kumar and Ravi Balhara also contributed with one wicket each.
In response, Dubai Giants looked in control, thanks to a brilliant knock of 55 off 34 balls by Irish batter Kevin O’Brien. With just 15 runs required off the final 15 balls, Giants were in a commanding position.
However, Rajasthan Kings staged a stunning comeback with disciplined bowling, setting up a tense final over.
Reflecting on his match-winning final over, Sudeep Tyagi said, “My plan was simple. I had to bowl yorkers and mix in a few variations. The pitch was a bit uneven, and in afternoon matches, the ball tends to come onto the bat slowly. I really enjoyed playing in this format and contributing to the team’s victory.”
Rajasthan Kings owner Gaurav Sachdeva praised the team’s comeback, saying, “It was a fantastic match. We have been champions in this format before. To see such a thrilling low-scoring contest right from the start is incredible. Our bowlers, led by skipper Ankit Rajpoot, did a brilliant job. We are here to win, and we will leave as champions.”
With this hard-fought victory, Rajasthan Kings have set a strong tone for their campaign in the Legend 90 League and will aim to carry forward their momentum in the upcoming matches.
