Truck-Car Collision in Chhattisgarh Claims Lives of Four Friends

Raipur
In a tragic accident on NH-130 in Chhattisgarh’s Sarguja district, a speeding truck collided head-on with a car, killing four friends from Raipur and leaving one critically injured, who is now in the ICU at Ambikapur Medical College. The accident, which occurred near Gumga village in the Udaipur police station area around 5 a.m., resulted from dense fog that impaired visibility, causing the driver to fail to notice the oncoming truck, and the collision was so severe that the front of the car was completely mangled, with airbags deploying but failing to save lives.
The victims, identified as Rahul, Sanju, and Dinesh Sahu from Changorabhata in Raipur, along with another whose identity is yet to be confirmed, were reportedly on an unplanned trip to Mainpat after initially setting out for Jagdalpur on Saturday evening, and the rescue operation involved using cutters to extract their bodies from the wreckage. Local residents and passersby rushed to the scene and alerted authorities, while the truck driver fled, leaving the police to seize the vehicle and launch a manhunt.
According to Udaipur Station In-Charge Kumari Chandrakar, the bodies have been sent to the Udaipur Community Health Center for post-mortem, and the families of the deceased have been informed, though the situation remains critical as investigations continue into the driver’s whereabouts.

This devastating accident highlights a concerning trend, as Chhattisgarh has recorded over 12,000 road accidents in 2024 alone, with 5,500 fatalities, many involving two-wheelers, while urban centers like Raipur and Bilaspur remain hotspots for such incidents.
