National Golf Championship in Chhattisgarh for First Time : IAS-IPS Officers and Business Tycoons to Participate; Rs 10 Lakh Prize Money and iPhone for Winners

For the first time, Chhattisgarh is set to host the National Golf Championship. Prominent industrialists from across the country will participate, along with powerful IAS and IPS officers from various states and the central government. During the launch event on Thursday, Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh, Amitabh Jain, made the inaugural golf shot. The championship offers a prize pool of Rs 10 lakh, and for the first time, even golf caddies (trolley handlers) will have their own competition, with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. Top performers will also receive iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The event will take place at the Mayfair Golf Course in Nava Raipur. During the pre-launch inauguration of the Golf Federation of India’s championship, Chief Secretary Jain announced that a Chhattisgarh team will also be selected for the National Golf Championship. He added that this will help promote interest in golf alongside other sports.
The National Golf Federation is organizing the National Golf Championship from October 24 to 26 at Nava Raipur, with participation from 20 states across India. Each team will consist of six players. The Chhattisgarh government is also involved in this event. Chief Secretary Jain emphasized the importance of physical fitness for a healthy mind and encouraged everyone to participate in some form of sport.
At the launch event, the Chief Secretary planted an almond tree. Aryaveer Arya, founder and secretary of the National Golf Federation, highlighted that the Golf Federation of India (GFI) is promoting sports, environmental conservation, education, health, and Vision Bharat 2047. Hosting the championship in Nava Raipur will provide a platform to promote the Nava Raipur golf course at a national level, showcasing Chhattisgarh’s potential in golf.
The first prize for the championship is Rs 10 lakh, and the runner-up will receive Rs 6 lakh, along with vouchers and trophies in both categories. The event will kick off with a caddy tournament, where the first prize will be Rs 1 lakh, followed by Rs 60,000 for second place, Rs 40,000 for third place, Rs 30,000 for fourth place, and Rs 20,000 for fifth place. Other prizes include an iPhone 16 Pro Max for the winner in the gross category and an iPhone 16 Pro for the winner in the net category. The event schedule includes the caddy tournament on October 24, a plantation drive on October 25, and the gathering of all team players at 6 a.m. on October 26, with the closing ceremony set for October 27, 2024.
