Following the successful bandh, PCC President Deepak Baij expressed gratitude to the state’s citizens and traders. He stated that while the Chamber of Commerce had not given written support, various small and local business organizations across the state supported the bandh and shut down their establishments. The increasing criminal incidents have created an atmosphere of fear throughout the state. The government has failed to provide a safe environment for the common people, and criminal elements are becoming more emboldened. People are being burned alive, incidents of gang rape are increasing, and SP and Collector offices are being set on fire. Within nine months, two collectors and two SPs have been removed and suspended as punishment, yet the government remains self-absorbed. The moral responsibility for all these incidents lies with the Home Minister, and the Chief Minister should understand his accountability and dismiss the Home Minister.
Baij further stated that the Chhattisgarh bandh was the common man’s protest against the state government’s failure and the worsening law and order situation. Congress will continue to fight for the people’s rights. Justice has still not been served for Prashant Sahu, and the government has yet to order an inquiry into his death. Congress will keep fighting until action is taken against the culprits. The party will compel the government to take concrete steps to improve the law and order situation.
