Two children drowned in a pond in Rajendra Nagar police station area of Raipur. The two youngsters had gone to the pond for a swim. As soon as they ventured into deeper waters, they began to drown and couldn’t make it out.
According to the police, Tejas Raut and Vijay Deep were primary school students and were returning from school when they decided to go for a swim. No one was around when they began to drown. Tejas was 10 years old and Vijay Deep was 8. The bodies of both children were recovered with the help of divers.
After some time, a passerby noticed the children’s clothes on the shore. Upon looking into the water, they saw the body of one of the children and immediately informed the police. However, before the police could arrive, local residents had already recovered both bodies from the water.
Upon receiving news of the children’s deaths, police arrived at the scene, and a crowd gathered around the pond.
It is reported that the children were returning from school when they took off their uniforms and shoes by the shore and entered the water to swim. It was during this time that they drowned. The police have conducted a preliminary investigation and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
