AAP demands action in seven-month-old newborn exchange case in Raipur, accuses Government of silence

Raipur: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chhattisgarh unit on Friday raised a seven months old case of exchange of a newborn in a private hospital in the state capital and demanded the state government break the silence on the issue.A couple from Bacheli, Dantewada had twins (a boy and a girl) on 25/12/2023 at a private test tube baby centre in Raipur. The mother was shown the boy and girl in the operation theatre. The father was sent away, and the babies were taken separately for observation. After some time, the couple was given two girls instead. The mother told her husband that there was a boy and a girl, leading the father to object strongly at the hospital, but to no avail.AAP’s state vice president Priyanka Shukla said that the couple had taken samples of the babies for DNA testing outside the hospital. The report took time, and it showed that one baby’s DNA matched 99.99% with the parents, while the other did not match at all.The affected father said that after three DNA tests, when the father’s DNA did not match, the couple filed a written complaint at Khmardih Police Station in Raipur. They also lodged complaints with the Superintendent of Police Raipur, Collector Raipur, Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai, and the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh, among others. However, the Sai government and the police have suppressed the matter, and no action has been taken.AAP Chief spokesperson Suraj Upadhyay said that the father, disappointed by the lack of action, sought help from the Aam Aadmi Party and wrote a letter requesting assistance. In response, AAP’s state organization general secretary Jasbir Singh, chief spokesperson Suraj Upadhyay, and state vice president and advocate Priyanka Shukla held a press conference at the state office in Raipur, accusing the government of protecting the accused.AAP leaders urged the government to break its silence on the matter, take cognizance of the issue, register an FIR against the culprits, and assured full support to the affected family, whether it requires a legal or ground-level fight. The Aam Aadmi Party stands with the affected father and demands action against the culprits.
