As the assembly elections approach in five states, the Congress high command has taken a strategic step of appointing observers. In Chhattisgarh, Congress leaders Pritam Singh and Meenakshi Natarajan have been entrusted with this crucial responsibility.
Pritam Singh, an experienced leader, has been designated as the senior observer for the assembly elections, while Meenakshi Natarajan will serve as the observer. Apart from Chhattisgarh, observers have also been assigned to Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram.
Pritam Singh, hailing from a Rajput family in Virnad village of Dehradun district (now Uttarakhand), has an impressive political background. He has been a six-time MLA and previously held significant positions within the Uttarakhand Congress, serving as the State President and Leader of the Opposition. Pritam Singh’s political acumen and leadership skills have earned him respect and prominence within the party.
Meenakshi Natarajan, a former Congress MP from Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh, is known for her close association with Rahul Gandhi. She has been actively involved in student politics, starting with her tenure in the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and later serving as the National President of NSUI from 1999 to 2002. Meenakshi Natarajan’s dedication to public service led to her election as an MP from Mandsaur parliamentary constituency in 2009.
Currently, Meenakshi Natarajan holds the position of national president of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan. She has been a consistent part of Team Rahul Gandhi and continues to be regarded as a trusted ally of the Gandhi family.
As the assembly elections draw near, the appointed observers will play a crucial role in guiding the party’s strategies and ensuring a strong and unified approach to the electoral process.
