Self-employment opportunities bring prosperity to women groups associated with Tilai Gauthan

Raipur: Gauthans have opened up new pathways for the progress of women, allowing them to indulge in various income-generating activities and become financially independent. Numerous women Self-Help Groups in the Tilai Gauthan located in the Akaltara Development Block of the Jangir-Champa district are actively involved in various livelihood activities.

Women are taking significant steps towards self-reliance, setting an exemplary path for other women groups. Furthermore, the families of these women are experiencing improved financial stability.

In Tilai Gauthan, the Aarti Women Self-Help Group is involved in vermicompost production and duck farming, the Jai Ma Lakshmi Group focuses on poultry and fish farming, and the Jay Anndhari Group is engaged in commercial vegetable production.

These women have become a source of inspiration for others. According to them, the Suraji Gaon Yojana introduced by the Chhattisgarh Government has proven to be highly beneficial. It serves as a means of economic empowerment for women. With the implementation of livelihood activities in the Gauthan, women are now able to access self-employment opportunities within their own villages.

Saroj Devi Sahu, President of the Aarti Women Self-Help Group, stated that they received financial assistance of Rs 75,000 through the National Rural Livelihood Mission Bihan and about Rs 2 lakh through bank linkage. This enabled the women in the group to improve their work performance. The group prepared around 3,494 bags of organic manure and made them available to the societies. Through vermicompost production, the group earned a profit of Rs 1,97,360, and they also generated a profit worth Rs 30,000 by selling earthworms. Smt. Sahu mentioned that the group is also involved in duck farming, from which they made a profit of Rs 30,000.

Satya Soni, the President of the Jai Ma Lakshmi Group, informed that they received Rs 75,000 through Bihan and Rs one lakh through bank linkage as financial assistance. With an investment of Rs 17,000, they started poultry farming and earned more than Rs 20,000 in income. She mentioned that the group has also ventured into fish farming, with hopes of making good profits from it.

Anita Yadav, the President of the Jai Anndhari Women Self-Help Group, mentioned that they invested Rs 41,350 from the received financial assistance under Bihan in vegetable production. The group has sold vegetables worth over Rs 54,000, earning a profit of about Rs 13,370.
