CM Bhupesh Baghel writes to Jyotiraditya Scindia, appeals to include Bilaspur in Udan 5.0 scheme

Raipur
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia demanding to add Bilaspur to the UDAN-5 scheme and appealed to expedite the process.
The people of Bilaspur region will be benefitted if the city is added to the scheme, the Chief Minister said. The Chief Minister wrote in the letter that information has been received that the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has not included Bilaspur city in the UDAN-5 scheme.
Due to this decision, people of Bilaspur are in despair and anger. Bilaspur is the second important city of the state. Due to the high court of the state being situated in Bilaspur, it is very necessary to provide regular air service facility here.
The Chief Minister said that in consultation with the DGCA and the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, 45 crore rupees have been spent from the state budget to ensure arrangements for terminal building, runway expansion, arrangement of security equipment etc. to start regular air service at Bilaspur Airport.
With the tireless efforts of the state government, Bilaspur was connected to the country’s air link. Air services were started for Jabalpur, New Delhi, Prayagraj, Indore. The number of passengers in all the flights operating from Bilaspur to other destinations was encouraging, but due to unknown reasons, later the flight service to Indore was stopped.
On June 9, the Samiti submitted a memorandum to Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan.
The Samiti demanded from the Governor that the Central Government and especially the Ministry of Civil Aviation should include Bilaspur Airport in the list of airports in the UDAN scheme and service from Bilaspur to Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur.
