Bilaspur
The interview for the recruitment of non-teaching staff in the Pt Sunderlal Sharma Open University, scheduled to be held on April 26 and 27, has been postponed. With it, the meeting of the Executive Council, scheduled to be held on April 27, has also been postponed, raising several eyebrows. On the other hand Vice Chancellor Professor Bansh Gopal Singh has gone on medical leave.
Interviews were going on for non-teaching posts in the Open University on Monday and as part of it, an interview for the post of System Analyst and Computer Programmer was held, in which 15 candidates each were called for these posts. On April 26 and 27, the interview was to be held for the post of Dean of Student Welfare, Assistant Dean of Student Welfare and Public Relations Officer.
But suddenly the university postponed April 26 and 27 interviews. The information about the postponement of the interview has been given to the candidates. It was expected that the envelop of the candidates selected so far to the no-teaching staff would be opened in the EC meeting on April 27 but the vivce chancellor has gone on medical leave.
Meanwhile, these developments have drawn attention of one and all who smell some foul play behind such decisions. It is being said that complaints were made regarding the recruitment process, after which the Vice-Chancellor postponed the interview process and the meeting of the Executive Council.
\Seven posts under self-financing scheme
An advertisement was published under the direct recruitment process for seven posts under self-financing scheme. It includes three posts of System Analyst, Public Relations Officer, Student Welfare Officer, Assistant Student Welfare Officer and Assistant Regional Director. After the application process for these posts, there was an aptitude test and after that the process of interview started from April 24, but the interview could be held only on Monday.
\Recruitment process mired in controversies
The recruitment process has been embroiled in controversies. The aptitude test was conducted by the university and the result of the test was not made public. Only the candidates selected for the interview have been informed to appear in the interview, so the rest of the candidates could not get any information about their results and it could not be known who were successful in the Aptitude Test. So this recruitment process was being termed as flawed by the candidates. The university had not even released the syllabus for the Aptitude Test. That’s why the complaint had reached the top regarding the recruitment process.
\Process adjourned once more
Even once before, the process for these posts has been postponed. Earlier applications were submitted for these posts and later the recruitment process was cancelled. The recommendation of the committee that was formed to determine the eligibility for these posts came after the release of the advertisement, due to which the technical issue regarding eligibility was getting stuck. For this reason, after discussion in the working council meeting in the University, the recruitment process under the said advertisement was canceled and a fresh advertisement was issued for these posts.
