Health Minister Directs Comprehensive Measures to Combat COVID-19 in State, Emphasizes Testing, Treatment, and Preparedness

Health Minister T.S. Singhdeo provided necessary guidelines by meeting senior departmental officers today. He asked the health department officials to keep alert and keep all the arrangements in place for the investigation, treatment, prevention, and control of Covid-19. The Health Minister directed to ensure proper arrangements of medical equipment, oxygen kits, vaccines, medicines, consumables, etc., along with getting the maximum number of tests done through RTPCR testing to confirm it in people with symptoms of Covid-19. He also reviewed the deaths due to Coronavirus in the last month.
Health Minister Singhdeo directed to conduct of 10,000 tests daily while expediting the sample testing of patients suspected of the corona. He also asked to start training human resources related to the operation of life-saving equipment and Covid-19 treatment in hospitals. The health minister asked about normal and ICU beds, HDU beds, and beds with oxygen and ventilator facilities in the hospitals. He also inquired about the availability of surgical masks, PPE kits, caps, gloves, and N-95 masks.
The health minister said in the meeting that 95 per cent of the corona-infected patients are now recovering from home isolation treatment. Health department officials informed that the number of tests is increasing in the state. Between April 11 and April 17, an average of 3763 tests were done daily, whereas, in March’s first week, 1008 tests were done daily.
Officials said that in the last month (between March 17 and April 17), 11 patients from Covid-19 have died in the state, of whom eight were suffering from comorbidity. Out of these 11 patients, four had not received vaccination against Covid-19.
