Renowned Pandavani Exponent and Padma Vibhushan awardee Teejan Bai remains critical and is undergoing intensive treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur, a medical bulletin issued on Thursday said.
The celebrated folk artist was admitted to the trauma and emergency department of AIIMS Raipur on 27 May in a serious medical condition. She has since been receiving treatment in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), where a multidisciplinary team of specialists is closely monitoring her health.
Specialist Care and Treatment
Doctors from the departments of General Medicine, Critical Care, Pulmonary Medicine and Nephrology are jointly managing her treatment. The hospital stated that continuous monitoring, diagnostic investigations and supportive medical care are being provided in accordance with established clinical protocols.
“Teejan Bai is currently hemodynamically stable, but her overall clinical condition remains critical,” the medical team reported.
Doctors are maintaining round-the-clock surveillance and are regularly assessing her response to treatment. The hospital has not disclosed the specific nature of her illness but said that all necessary medical interventions are being undertaken to ensure the best possible care. The medical team continues to observe her progress closely and adjust treatment as required.

Teejan Bai is internationally acclaimed for popularising Pandavani, a narrative folk singing style based on stories from the Mahabharata. Her powerful performances and decades-long contribution to Indian folk culture have earned her numerous national and international accolades, including the country’s second-highest civilian honour, the Padma Vibhushan.
Her hospitalisation has prompted concern among admirers, cultural organisations and members of the artistic community across Chhattisgarh and the country. Well-wishers have been praying for her speedy recovery as updates on her health continue to be closely followed.
AIIMS Raipur said the veteran artist remains under the care of a dedicated team of specialists, and her condition is being monitored continuously in the intensive care unit.
