Raipur’s Young Artist Uttam Sahu Represents Chhattisgarh’s Terracotta Art at National OSOA Initiative

In a proud moment for Raipur and Chhattisgarh, young artist Uttam Sahu has been selected for the national cultural initiative “One State One Artist (OSOA)”, where he represented the state’s renowned Terracotta art at a prestigious national platform held in Himachal Pradesh.
The event was organized from May 1 to 9, 2026, in Nashala, Himachal Pradesh, and brought together 38 selected young folk and traditional artists from different states across India. The initiative aimed to preserve India’s traditional and folk art heritage while providing emerging artists with a national platform to showcase their creativity and cultural identity.
Representing one of Chhattisgarh’s most recognized traditional art forms, Uttam Sahu showcased Terracotta art before artists and audiences from across the country. During the programme, he collaborated with artists from various states to create collaborative artworks and actively participated in workshops, cultural exchanges, and creative sessions.
Other young artists from Chhattisgarh also participated in the initiative, including Surendra Soni, who represented the state’s famous Dhokra folk art tradition.
The OSOA initiative, conceptualized by young artist Prakash Garg, seeks to provide a renewed national identity to India’s folk and traditional arts through youth participation while creating a shared platform for cultural exchange among different states.
The fully sponsored programme offered young artists an opportunity to present their regional art forms at the national level, learn about diverse artistic traditions, and engage in meaningful cultural interaction.
Uttam Sahu’s selection and participation in OSOA is being seen as a significant achievement for the folk art traditions of Raipur and Chhattisgarh, highlighting how the state’s young artists are taking their cultural heritage to greater national recognition.
