Raipur traffic police, civic body remove encroachments in major market corridors

Raipur: Raipur Traffic Police and the Municipal Corporation launched a joint anti-encroachment drive across Pachpedi Naka, Pujari Park, and the Pandri Cloth Market Mandi Gate area on Friday to clear illegal street vendors and streamline vehicular movement.
The joint team removed handcarts, temporary kiosks, and unauthorized structures occupying roads and footpaths in these high-footfall corridors. Shopholders displaying merchandise on walkways were directed to clear the property immediately. Officials cleared the routes to ensure safe movement for pedestrians and commuters.

During the drive, officials informed shopowners and vendors that encroaching on public walkways disrupts traffic flow and increases collision risks. Authorities issued warnings to repeat offenders, highlighting that future violations will draw strict legal action under municipal and traffic safety laws.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Archana Jha appealed to business owners and residents to refrain from encroaching on roads and public walkways to maintain smooth urban mobility. Joint drives with the Municipal Corporation will continue regularly across key commercial areas to keep city roads free from traffic gridlocks, police said.
