Raipur Police Return ₹15,737 to Cyber Fraud Victims Through MRM Portal

RAIPUR: North Zone police under the Raipur Police Commissionerate recovered ₹15,737 lost to online financial fraud in two separate cases registered at Gudhiyari police station, using the Money Restoration Module (MRM) portal.

The MRM portal acts as a coordination platform connecting police, banks and financial institutions to fast-track the recovery of defrauded funds.

When victims report cyber fraud promptly, police track the relevant banking transactions and initiate action to retrieve the stolen money.

In the first incident, Varsha Kumari Netam, a resident of Surya Nagar, Gogaon, lost ₹27,000 in an online fraud. Following police intervention through the MRM portal, ₹10,737 was restored to her account.

In the second case, Nageshwar Kumar, a resident of Gudhiyari, lost ₹5,000 to cyber fraudsters. Gudhiyari police recovered and refunded the entire amount of ₹5,000 through the portal.

Police officials advised citizens to report financial cyber crimes immediately on the national helpline 1930 and register complaints on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Victims must also inform their respective banks without delay to freeze suspicious transactions.

Swift reporting of cyber fraud increases the likelihood of blocking fraudulent transactions and recovering lost money.
