Raigarh Police Trace Ganja Supply Chain to Odisha, Arrest Woman Supplier in ₹25.62-Lakh Narcotics Case

Raipur: In a significant breakthrough under ‘Operation Aaghat’, Raigarh police have arrested a woman from Odisha identified as the alleged source of a 52-kg ganja consignment seized earlier this year, taking the investigation beyond interstate carriers to the supply network behind the racket.
The arrested accused, Subhadra alias Mami Malik (41), a resident of Kandhamal district in Odisha, was allegedly responsible for supplying the contraband near Sambalpur Railway Station for transportation to Bina (Madhya Pradesh). She was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.
Raigarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shashi Mohan Singh said the district police are pursuing end-to-end investigations to dismantle the entire narcotics network.
“Police action will not be limited to carriers alone. Suppliers, financial beneficiaries and every individual linked to the narcotics trade will face strict action. Raigarh district will not be allowed to become a safe haven for drug traffickers,” he said.
The case originated on April 22, 2026, when Kharsia police received information about three men transporting ganja from Odisha. Acting on the tip-off, a team led by Kharsia Police Station In-charge Trinath Tripathi intercepted the suspects near the Kharsia Railway Colony and arrested Dinesh Kumar Behera (22), Shiva Behera (21), and Devi Prasad Kanhar (19), all residents of Kandhamal district.
Police seized 52 kg of ganja worth approximately ₹25.62 lakh from their possession. During interrogation, the three accused allegedly disclosed that the consignment had been supplied by Mami Malik. Technical surveillance of the mobile number provided by the accused helped investigators establish her identity and whereabouts.
Based on the leads, a Raigarh police team, with assistance from Odisha Police, conducted a raid at Gochhapada in Kandhamal district and arrested the woman. A mobile phone allegedly used in the crime was also seized.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional SP Anil Soni and SDOP Kharsia Prabhat Patel.
