Teacher in Bilaspur directed to be suspended for arriving drunk, abusing PM Modi

Raipur: The District Education Officer (DEO), Bilaspur, has directed the management committee of Vidya Mandir Primary School in Behramuda to immediately suspend grant-in-aid assistant teacher Chhatarpal Singh Raj after an enquiry confirmed that he arrived at school in an intoxicated condition and used abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The action followed enquiry reports submitted on October 4 by the Kota Block Education Officer and the principal of Government High School, Behramuda, along with a report submitted by the Sankul Academic Coordinator (CAC) on October 3 and a video of the incident that went viral.

The enquiry found that Raj was heavily intoxicated on the school premises during working hours on October 3. A video also showed him allegedly engaging in indiscipline and making highly objectionable and derogatory remarks against PM Modi.

The education department observed that the teacher’s conduct violated official rules, compromised the dignity of the teaching profession and brought disrepute to the institution.

As the school is run by a private management committee and receives state grant-in-aid, the Bilaspur DEO directed the management to suspend Raj with immediate effect and submit a compliance report within 24 hours.

The DEO also warned that failure to submit the compliance report would lead to withholding of all salary disbursements for the institution, with the school management committee held fully accountable for compliance.
