Raigarh police arrest man for duping citizens of over ₹1.1 crore in land and vehicle fraud
Raigarh: Raigarh police arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly cheating multiple individuals of over ₹1.10 crore under the pretext of vehicle trading and land brokerage deals.
The accused has been identified as Krishna Kumar Sahu, a resident of Padigaon village under the Tamnar police station limits. Police have remanded him in judicial custody.
The case came to light following a written complaint filed at the Tamnar police station by Saddam Hussain, 32, a resident of Bajirao Para, along with his associate Suresh Manikpuri. Hussain alleged that Sahu took money from them on the pretext of buying and selling vehicles. When the victims demanded their money back, Sahu offered to sell his land located at Khasra No. 428/4 (area 0.049 hectares) to settle the dues, taking further payments from them.
On 14 April 2026, Sahu agreed to sell the land to the complainants but later registered the same plot in another woman’s name.
Sahu defrauded Hussain of ₹22 lakh and Manikpuri of ₹22.40 lakh through cash and bank transfers, taking the initial fraud total to ₹44.40 lakh.
Police investigations revealed that Sahu similarly duped several other individuals, including Purushottam Sidar, Dinesh Sharma, Santosh Sahu, and Manoj Sarthi.
Tamnar police registered a case under Section 318(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (Crime No. 179/2026). Tamnar Inspector Prashant Rao detained and interrogated Sahu, who confessed to the crime.
Based on his memorandum statement, police seized a Mahindra Scorpio and a Mahindra Bolero, valued at around ₹20 lakh, which were allegedly purchased using the defrauded funds.
Initial police findings confirm that Sahu cheated 10 to 15 individuals of more than ₹1.10 crore. Further complaints against the accused continue to arrive at the police station. Authorities are currently examining his financial transactions and property holdings.
