Raipur: Durg police have arrested a property dealer for allegedly threatening a man’s wife and children in an attempt to forcibly grab the family’s land, officials said on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Lakhan Singh, was arrested by Mohan Nagar Police after a complaint was filed by local resident Pravinder Singh Chane before the Durg Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on July 27.
During the preliminary inquiry, police found prima facie evidence that Singh had been intimidating the complainant’s family members to coerce them into surrendering their property. Based on the findings, Mohan Nagar Police registered Crime No. 533/2026 under Sections 296, 351(2), and 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation.
Police traced the accused and arrested Lakhan Singh on July 28. Officials said the investigation is continuing to determine the full extent of the alleged intimidation and whether any other persons were involved in the case.
Issuing an advisory, Durg Police urged citizens to resolve property disputes through legal means only and immediately report any threats, intimidation, or attempted land grabbing to the nearest police station or the Police Control Room. Police warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in such offences.
