Raipur Chhattisgarh Congress is likely to unveil its first list of candidates for assembly elections, slated for November 7 and 17, on October 14. The Central Election Committee meeting of the party may take place on October 13, after which the first list of 40 names can be announced. The State Election Committee meeting was held at the CM House on Sunday. Meanwhile, a crucial meeting of the state Congress was held ahead of the CWC meeting. Single names for all 90 seats at the state level have been finalized, sources said. The final approval will be given to these names in the Central Election Committee meeting. The first list of Congress is expected to include approximately 40 names, including the names of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and several ministers. Along with this, candidates will also be fielded on the 13 seats currently held by the BJP. There is a possibility of the second list coming within a week of the first list being announced. The Congress State Election Committee has held more than 6 meetings so far, where discussions were held on applications, names from surveys, and names recommended by leaders. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had also mentioned on Sunday that discussions had taken place based on the recommendations of leaders. A decision will be made after the meeting of the Central Election Committee on tickets. After the viral list of BJP, Congress is becoming more cautious. There will be discussions on how to keep the list completely confidential until the meeting of the Central Election Committee, and how to control any indiscipline or opposition if the list is released.
