Gobra Nawapara SHO Suspended Over Alleged Nexus With History-Sheeter, Attached to Police Lines

Raipur: Raipur Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Shweta Shrivastava Sinha has suspended Gobra Nawapara Station House Officer (SHO) Dipesh Jaiswal with immediate effect and attached him to the police lines following allegations of suspicious conduct during a crackdown on illegal activities in the area.

According to reports, there had been repeated complaints about the flourishing of illegal liquor, ganja, and gambling operations within the Gobra Nawapara police station limits. Acting on these inputs, a team from the Raipur Rural Crime Branch conducted a late-night raid.

During the operation, Crime Branch personnel allegedly spotted SHO Dipesh Jaiswal engaged in a private conversation with one of the accused away from the raid site. The interaction raised suspicions of possible collusion, prompting the team to submit a report to senior officers.

Sources identified the accused as Lalla Sonwani, a known history-sheeter allegedly involved in illegal liquor, ganja, and gambling rackets in the region. Sonwani is named in several criminal cases, and externment (tadipar) proceedings had previously been initiated against him.

Taking serious note of the Crime Branch findings, SP Shweta Shrivastava Sinha ordered Jaiswal’s suspension and attachment to the police lines pending further investigation.

Police officials stated that the action reflects the department’s zero-tolerance policy toward any alleged nexus between police personnel and individuals involved in illegal activities.
