Civic action programme, mobile police meet strengthen community ties in Bastar; sports kits, saris and footwear distributed

Raipur: The Usur police on Monday organised a civic action programme and a chalit thana (mobile police station) in Marudbaka village of Bastar to strengthen community ties and address local grievances. The event was attended by additional superintendent of police (Ops) Ravindra Kumar Meena, SDOP Awapalli Tileshwar Prasad Yadav, and station house officers from Usur and Awapalli.

Officials engaged in direct dialogue with villagers, listening to their concerns and assuring swift resolution of issues.

During the interaction, police highlighted how Naxalite activities had hindered regional development for years by depriving residents of basic amenities through illegal levy collection. Officials said that with the decline of Naxal influence in the area, various government welfare schemes are now reaching villagers directly.

Addressing the youth, officers encouraged them to build a better future through education, sports and competitive examinations. Parents were urged to send children regularly to schools and anganwadis, where meals and educational facilities are available.

Police also advised villagers not to be misled by Naxal ideologies and shared examples of rehabilitated Maoists who are now leading respectful and employment-oriented lives after joining the mainstream. Residents were requested to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station, security camp or senior officers.

As part of the civic action initiative, police distributed sports equipment and kits, including cricket, volleyball and badminton sets, to local youth. Women were provided with saris, children received ludo sets, and footwear was distributed among elderly villagers.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the community and concluded with a community meal attended by nearly 300–400 villagers. Residents expressed confidence in the police administration and assured cooperation in maintaining peace, security and development in the region.
