Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Raipur this evening at 9:30 PM as part of a high-stakes visit to Chhattisgarh aimed at reviewing the state’s anti-Naxal operations. He will stay overnight at a resort in Nawa Raipur and travel to Bastar on Saturday morning, where he will visit the revered Maa Danteshwari Temple and attend the closing ceremony of the Bastar Pandum cultural festival.
Shah’s visit holds strategic significance as the deadline he set last year—to eliminate Naxalism from India by March 31, 2026—is now just a year away. Since the BJP government led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai assumed power, over 350 Naxals have been killed and 2,200 arrested or surrendered, marking intensified efforts to dismantle left-wing extremism.
In Bastar, Shah will interact with local leaders and security personnel engaged in anti-Naxal operations. Later, he will return to Raipur to chair a high-level meeting with CM Sai, Home Minister Vijay Sharma, and top officials from police, CRPF, and BSF. The state government will brief Shah on the progress of operations and the newly implemented anti-Naxal policy.
CM Sai emphasized expanding infrastructure and services in remote tribal areas and appealed to Naxals to abandon violence and join the path of peace.
