Raipur Police have initiated legal action against two persons for operating loudspeakers at high volume without permission and beyond the permissible time limit in the Central Zone of the city.
Acting on the directives of the Supreme Court and the High Court of Chhattisgarh regarding noise pollution, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) Tarkeshwar Patel directed all gazetted officers and station house officers to enforce the guidelines.
On 13 September 2026, Civil Lines police found Rajendra Sahu and Rupesh Pasi operating sound systems in violation of the mandated norms near Janata Colony, Rajendra Nagar, and Jogi Bangla. Police registered cases against the two under Sections 4, 5, and 15 of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Act and seized their vehicles.
The arrested persons have been identified as Rajendra Sahu (24), a resident of Ramnagar, Charoda Bhilai in Durg district, and Rupesh Pasi (33), a resident of Pension Bada, opposite the Adivasi Hostel under the Kotwali police station limits in Raipur.
The Central Zone police administration has appealed to event organisers and sound system operators to strictly comply with the permitted noise standards and time limits during festivals and religious events. Police warned that playing loud music after processions, creating a nuisance in public places, or disturbing public peace will attract strict legal action.
