Raipur, October 18. The Chhattisgarh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has intervened following an alleged assault on children in Raipur’s Pandri area. Commission officials visited Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (Mekahara) and a children’s home to check the health, safety and care of the victims.
The commission instructed the authorities concerned to take necessary steps for the protection, counselling and rehabilitation of the children, and ensure strict legal action.
Information received by the commission through the Child Helpline on October 15 revealed that a three-year-old boy and an eight-year-old boy were allegedly assaulted. The younger child sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Mekahara Hospital on October 16.
The older boy has been placed in a children’s home, while a six-year-old girl has been shifted to Matrichhaya for safe care. Police have registered an FIR and arrested the children’s mother and stepfather, who have been sent to jail.
