ABVP holds protest in Raipur against alleged anarchic activities, over 135 students join

Raipur, October 16: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Raipur Mahanagar, organised a protest demonstration on Friday under its ‘Stop Anarchy – Embrace Democracy’ campaign to oppose alleged anarchic activities and misleading propaganda carried out under the guise of public protests.

Over 135 students participated in the demonstration, where ABVP members raised concerns over several recent incidents. These included alleged misinformation regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister, the Youth Congress protest at the AI Impact Summit, an alleged threat to slap the Registrar of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV), misconduct towards police personnel, and the reported burning of the Preamble to the Constitution by National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) members in Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, ABVP Chhattisgarh state joint secretary Pratham Rao Phutane stated that while protesting remains a fundamental right, it must serve the public interest, social reform, and constructive policy opposition. He said violence, threats, misleading campaign tactics, damage to public property, and disrespect toward constitutional institutions are unacceptable. A functional democracy requires citizens to fulfil their constitutional duties alongside exercising their rights, he added.

ABVP Raipur Mahanagar secretary Sujal Gupta said demonstrations should aim for social progress rather than insulting individuals or public offices. Whether opposing government decisions, safeguarding student welfare, or combating social evils, public movements must adhere to constitutional values, truth, and peace. He added that expressing disagreement requires a responsible and dignified approach.
