Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Employees and Officers Federation has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, demanding full pension benefits after 25 years of qualifying service for state government employees.
Federation state convener Kamal Verma stated that most employees enter regular government service between the ages of 25 and 30. Under current norms, the requirement for a longer service tenure prevents many from receiving full pension benefits despite decades of work.
Highlighting the central government pension model—where 20 years of qualifying service forms a key basis for benefits—the federation urged the state to amend its pension rules accordingly. The cadre body stressed that the demand aims to ensure post-retirement financial security and parity with central service conditions rather than seeking undue benefits.
Key Demands Submitted by the Federation:
- Amend Chhattisgarh pension rules to grant full pension after 25 years of qualifying service.
- Form a committee of officials from the Finance and General Administration Departments to study relevant central provisions.
- Issue necessary official orders to extend benefits to current and future state employees across all departments and cadres.
Verma added that ensuring social and economic security for long-serving personnel must remain a priority for the administration. Expressing confidence in the state government, the federation expected a positive decision on the matter.
